Galina, do you know what’s up with this builder? It keeps having intermittent failures trying to link cpp11-migrate:
llvm: Linking Debug+Asserts executable cpp11-migrate
command timed out: 1200 seconds without output, attempting to kill
process killed by signal 9
program finished with exit code -1
I don’t think I’ve ever gotten a real blame message from this builder that wasn’t also on another one, so worst case maybe we should take this one offline?
I brought this up, too: I believe the command timeout is too short. I
think just doubling the timeout (or something like that) ought to be
enough to fix the issue, but I don't know the infrastructure and
didn't get any feedback when I suggested it.
The build we are discussing has been interrupted after linker does not print anything out for 20 minutes, because it hanged.
I don’t see how doubling the timeout would fix this issue.
Are you sure that it has hung in those cases? When linking with BFD LD
linker on a machine with limited memory, I have had things take a
_very_ long time to link but finish eventually, so I don't know if you
can assume the process has hung.
Also, you might be right, but if so, can you just not report hung
processes as errors, at least for builders that are known to hang?
(And do you know why this builder hangs?)
If this machine has limited memory, we should get one with more memory. Links shouldn’t take this long. Just from looking at the bot name, I assume this is basically 64-bit Ubuntu, which should be super easy to replicate / rebuild.
