FOSDEM, one of the biggest open source conferences, is having a call for their so-called dev rooms, for FOSDEM 2026, this February, in Brussels.
Myself and a number of other people have organised LLVM dev rooms at FOSDEM since 2014. @smithp35, @marbre, @weliveindetail and I are planning to propose and organise (if accepted) an LLVM Dev room again for the 2026 edition of FOSDEM.
If you are interested in helping with organising the LLVM dev room, we’d like to hear from you. Please do reach out to us, either by replying here, or privately through direct message on LLVM Discourse or LLVM Discord.
The main tasks that need to be done include:
- Write the Call for Papers, and share and publish it in places where we expected potential presenters will see it.
LLVM Discourse is of course such a place. But we also want to advertise it in places where “users” of LLVM in the widest sense of the word can see it. It is our experience that presentations at the FOSDEM LLVM dev room often come from people who don’t consider themselves LLVM developers, and who are doing something interesting and unique with the LLVM libraries and tools. - Review submissions.
- Help with running the room on the day of the conference. This includes helping the next speaker to set up the microphone, introduce them and keep speakers on time.
We are looking for people that are willing to help with either just one or multiple of these tasks.
Thanks,
Peter, Marius, Stefan, Kristof
