Test Email - Apologies for the noise

Apologies for the noise. I’m investigating a weird mail client issue that’s been occurring for me since the mailing list switch and I’ve been unable to reproduce it outside of the list. When I click reply-all, Outlook removes all the LLVM mailing lists from the recipients list leaving just the individual recipients. Outlook Web Access is working perfectly fine.

This thread is just to see if reply-all arrives at the mailing list despite not being shown in the GUI.

It didn't show in your first email on GMail, but it was there:

Now, on my reply, without any change, it does show in the address bar.

Go figure.

Thanks. There was also a reply-all to the first email with the text 'Will this arrive on the list?'. Did you receive that one? It hasn't shown up on the archive yet.

Interestingly, reply-all to your reply included the list. I'm going to compare the headers and see if I can spot the difference.

Nope.

I’m seeing the same issue here, also with Outlook.

(Had to CC the list manually for this email)

Same problem here - good to know it's not just me.

For reference, I'm using Outlook version 14.0.7153.5000 from Office 2010.

I'm on version 14.0.6112.5000 from Office 2010 at the moment.

If you try it on this email, does reply-all include llvm-dev? I'm finding llvm-dev is included when I click reply-all on Renato's, Michael's, and your emails.

I'm wondering if it might be something subtle in the CC: header. The emails that drop the mailing lists have:

Yes, replying to this one includes llvm-dev.

If you try it on this email, does reply-all include llvm-dev?

As MK found, it does.

Both forms are valid but maybe Outlook doesn't like the omitted display-name.

Good catch.

I've managed to reproduce this outside the list using SMTP and telnet. I've been sending myself emails with various modified headers and I've concluded that Outlook isn't handling Reply-To correctly. It seems to be replacing both instances of the list (from From and CC) with the Reply-To instead of just the one in From. I don't know what the correct fix is but I've sent the details to Tanya Lattner.
