Many folks have asked me what the next step is for collecting area team self-nominations and when that will happen, so I figured I should post an update. @AaronBallman @beanz and I drafted a form to collect nominations, but in light of the holidays, we decided it would be best to formally post this and solicit self-nominations in January, so it’s right at the top of most folks email rather than buried in the holiday backlog.
This date works backwards from the documented election date of the 4th Monday in January, which is when elections are supposed to open. Here’s how that timeline looks in real 2025 calendar days:
- Mon Jan 6: Post the form collecting self-nominations
- Mon Jan 20: Send reminder that self-nomination is closing and elections open next Monday
- Thu Jan 23: Nominations form closes
- Mon Jan 27: Voting forms are sent out to LLVM contributors
- Mon Feb 3, Sat Feb 8, Sun Feb 9: Send reminder to vote for area teams
- Mon Feb 10: Voting closes (the two week voting period is part of the documented process)
- Wed Feb 13: Results are announced 48hrs later
