LLVM Elections Update

Hello LLVM!

Thanks to some last minute work by @tstellar and the folks over at Red Hat, we have a new voting system setup that is tied to GitHub OAuth. This dramatically simplifies the voter registration process and insulates the election process from abuse that email-based systems are susceptible to.

I’ve created a test election and added all LLVM committers to the eligible voter list, so everyone who is eligible to vote should be able to do so at https://elections.llvm.org

Please give it a try and see how it works!

The official election will go live Monday using this system.

There will be no emails about elections!!!

The call for nominations is still open:
https://discourse.llvm.org/t/call-for-nominations-for-llvm-project-area-teams

In the future we can use the same system for elections and nominations, but it wasn’t ready for this round so I’m still rolling those by hand.

Please reach out if you have any concerns.

Big thanks again to @tstellar and the folks at Red Hat for helping get this going!

Here’s the election schedule I posted back in December, reshared today, so it’s top of mind for everyone as we start the election process:

  • Mon Jan 6: Post the form collecting self-nominations
  • Mon Jan 20: Send reminder that self-nomination is closing and elections open next Monday
  • Thu Jan 23: Nominations form closes
  • Mon Jan 27: Voting opens
  • Mon Feb 3, Sat Feb 8, Sun Feb 9: Send reminder to vote for area teams
  • Mon Feb 10: Voting closes (the two week voting period is part of the documented process)
  • Wed Feb 13: Results are announced 48hrs later

Again, these dates are all extrapolated from the election date of the 4th Monday in January documented in LP0004.
