I’d like to nominate 2 long time contributors for the Clang Static Analyzer maintainer role.
@DonatNagyE and @necto has contributed for along time, provided high quality patches, participated in discussions on this forum and beyond.
Their contributions were meaningful and long lasting for the project overall.
The Clang Static Analyzer is used by multiple companies, and I think those investments should be honoured by honouring the work that these people put into the project in their professional setting and even in cases beyond, in their personal time.
Accepting this nomination would bring responsibilities and expectations, so please refer to the LLVM Developer Policy for a refresher of the Maintainer role. Remember, one can always step down if life changes.
Unfortunately, nowadays I find it difficult to find time to contribute to the static analyzer, or even to keep up with the discussions. I will do my best to catch up with these, and I think I can do that in the contributor role. I guess, I can re-nominate myself when I feel that I have caught up.
I checked the responsibilities of the maintainers, and I’m already active in some of them (especially in the code reviews), but I will aim to do them a bit more consistently. I am not yet familiar with the release-related activities, but I could learn and participate in them if (@ other maintainers) you show me what to do.
I’m also not yet familiar with the LLVM Discord – how active and important is that platform? Should I join and monitor that platform, or is the current maintainer presence sufficient?
A new release is upcoming, LLVM 22.x will branch next week (Tue 13th Jan), make sure to go through the issues that are reported under your area and have a release/backport tag. You can subscribe to those in the same way as the others.
Discord is optional. I have joined but find it extremely hard to monitor it, so I just keep alerts for direct mentions and mute everything else. All the important discussions and decisions happen here, in the forum.
